Tasty Travels

Last weekend we drove over to Spring Hill, a little over 2 hours away.We were attending a party for my cousins two little girls  What we discovered on the way was a beautiful little area about an hour away from our home. Yalaha, Fl. Yalaha happens to be home to the Yalaha Bakery!!! We didn't have time to stop by on our way to the party, and by the time we drove back they were closed, but we vowed to return.... the following week..... that would be  Today! We made plans, Saturday rolled in, a visit with my mom who was just back from Hawaii, church with my girlfriend and her family, my brother in law and niece ( my church has a Saturday night service) , and then a quicky dinner of pizza and early to bed.  But that's not exactly how it played out. Said pizza made everyone sick! at 1:30 a.m. and 2:00 a.m. I was up with a vomiting child. At 3:00 I was up with another who thought they were going to be sick... not to mention my own stomach pains. Needless to say that place is forever banned. That early rise on Sunday, breakfast at the Bakery, and picking  organic blueberries and blackberries at a farm next door to the bakery didn't happened as planned. We ended up with a "lunch" at the bakery and a lot of really amazing desserts. It was a bit too hot and late to pick blackberries and blueberries at that point ,so that will have to happen another time. No worries, there was still some yummy fun to be had, So here are some pics of today's tasty travels.

 The trip out

We're here!

Let's take a look inside!

So... what did we get ?

Liverwurst sandwich.....FYI they also have a German Deli

I am sure this is one of those nasty things that only a girl whose father is Polish or German could appreciate. My dad is Polish and it's been a good 10 or 15 years since I've had liverwurst so .....when in Yalaha ...LOL! It was good .

I honestly can't remember what this is called but it was mine..... crust on the bottom, apricot preserve, assorted nuts some kind of sugary binding agent, and dark chocolate- woah!!! SOOOOOO good! I only could eat half , so plan on sharing, we ordered with our eyes.

The sinkhole ...chocolate ganache in the middle

This was fantastic... a reuben that one of the kids got....the picture is sideways on my end and I don't know why... sorry

My beautiful girl and a black forest cake

 A nice outdoor seating area

The adjoining store and blueberry/ blackberry farm

Goodbye!

But our day was not over..... off to Mt. Dora!

This gorgeous place had probably 20 different olive oils, 30 different balsamic vinegars,
and 12 -13 gourmet salts to sample and buy

My take away treat....

You can customize a box for your self of 6 items
I chose 4 vinegars: white pineapple- mind blowing, black mission fig, black cherry, and a traditional.
2 olive oils: Persian lime and Tuscan herb.

This was our ride home, but it was kinda perfect

We ran inside, got in our p.j.'s, turned on one of my favorite t.v. shows: BBC: "The Great British Bake Off"

made a cup of coffee

sampled my first bakewell which I could not resist at the bakery because I had learned about it on  "The Great British Bake Off"

and  we all snuggled up on the couch on a dark rainy evening

My sweet boy and his papa

Pure bliss

By the way.... I am working out how to move to Yalaha LOL!
